The Spennymoor Gala Committee is excited to announce that registrations for vintage vehicles are now open for this year's Gala Parade, themed Carnival of Colour!

The main event is set to take place on Saturday, 6th July. It will feature a vibrant Carnival style Parade through the heart of Spennymoor, commencing at Barnfield Road at 12:30hrs and culminating at Victoria Jubilee Park. The celebration will continue within the park until 16:30hrs.

All Classic Cars entries must be applied for online
The closing date for entries is Monday 10^th June 2024. This date is subject to change based on interest and application volumes due to limited space.

Entry Cost and Prizes

ENTRY IS FREE 😊 Each participating vehicle will receive a commemorative trophy for participating.

Prizes are available for the best entries. Judging of the participants takes place during the Carnival Parade as it passes through Town and in the vintage vehicle line up in Jubilee Park by the Town Mayor.

All participants will be marked by the following criteria:

Overall design and visual impact i.e. how good it all looks.
Effort and participation of theme
Spirit of Carnival – i.e. how well you engage with the Carnival spectators.

Timings

Parade registration on Barnfiled Road opens at 11.00am. Please report here upon arrival. Only vehicles associated with the event will be given access. Drivers must be aware that there will be pedestrians in the road.

Parade registration closes 11:45am. No access will be granted after this time.

Parade starts at 12:30

Parade finishes at Jubilee Park around 13:00 where you will be directed to the vintage vehicle line up in the showfield.

Once in position at Jubilee Park, no vehicular movement will be permitted until 16:30.

Route

The route from the Parade starting point at the bottom of Barnfield Road (Spennymoor DL16 6ND) is 0.6miles/1km leading through Cheapside, High Street and onto Carr Lane entering Jubilee Park (DL16 6JJ).

Classic Car rules and Participating in the Parade

Parade space may be limited, and numbers will be restricted to a maximum of 30 cars. There may also be a restriction on the number of same models.
Vehicles eligible to attend the Gala are those cars registered on or before 1999.
You will ensure that your vehicle is clean, roadworthy, in a presentable condition, and licensed and insured as necessary.
Please note that full security will be enforced and you will not be allowed into the Parade or the showfield at Jubilee Park without the correct vehicle pass.
Classic car owners who participate in the Carnival Parade will be directed to Jubilee Park to display their vehicle after the parade.
Classic car drivers will need to follow the direction of event organisers at all times.
Once in position at Jubilee Park, no vehicular movement will be permitted until 16:30.
You will be able to enjoy the entertainment, live bands and funfair within Jubillee Park for the duration of the event. A number of food vendors will be available, or you can bring along a packed lunch/picnic.

The 2024 Carnival of Colour will be a joyous celebration of togetherness, diversity and pride of our community. The grand parade will feature the vibrant and dynamic essence of colour, symbolising the beauty of togetherness and the strength found in embracing differences. By taking part you will join the celebration alongside vibrant street entertainment, performers and live music that will bring the Town of Spennymoor to life with energy and excitement. Think bright costumes, colourful props, and dazzling decorations that capture the spirit of celebration and unity.
